are you Spiritually Constipated?

image

God is pressing into me today how vital we are to one another. We have to truly understand that WE ARE THE CHURCH. Yes, we need one another, Yes, it’s amazing that we have the freedom to meet regularly within 4 walls…..BUT what are we doing with the anointing that we are given each week.

When I say that I mean, the pastor that stands up to teach you each week is imparting what God has placed within them. What are you and I doing with this? Is it even going anywhere other than your ears?

I have a saying that I have preached to my family and it’s that the church has become “spiritually constipated”. We are backed up and the enemy has WON in so many homes. We are greedy hoarders. We do not pour out what we’ve been given and what happens is our “wineskin” (our Spirit) becomes dry, stale, and unusable.

Now I write this but want those who begin to feel guilty because you’re wiped out or not strong enough to pour into others and require others to pour into you….to stop right there and listen. A couple months ago I had been given a word after starting a new church that takes up tithes and offerings pretty intensely. I felt strongly that God told me “I do not cause guilt” The Spirit than gave me understanding of this Word. I want to share this with you because that “guilt” is caused by a religious spirit, not the Holy Spirit. God wants you to have a cheerful heart when giving anything, especially I believe when it comes to pouring into others. When you truly have a fresh anointing you are eager to share it with the world, with all of your loved ones, and anyone who will listen. THIS I imagine brings more joy and pleasure to the Lord than any obligated offering.

So many forget that the Fruit of the SPIRIT is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, , FAITHFULNESS, & GENTLENESS. (see Galatians 5:22,23) If you’re not working in any of those, chances are you’re working in your own power. Can it still affect others, absolutely. Gods Word will not return void. However, the power of the Spirit will always exceed anything we can do by our own strength.

So I ask you…..quoting Janet Jackson “What have you done for God lately?” Are you pouring into anyone else, are you in a season where you’re allowing others to pour into you? Or are you going through the motions, appearing to be alive, but inside you’re really dead? Because if you are then I plead with you to read the letter to the church of SARDIS in Revelations 3….because that is the spirit within you that Jesus is calling….won’t you listen?

Meeting at the Cross

I decided to step out of my box just now and I typed the word “numb” in the search box. I could only read a few of the posts of people expressing the feeling of being unable to express what they’re feeling. Coincidence?

I don’t think so. I have noticed over the years on Facebook that others will begin to go through the same kind of symptoms that I will be feeling inside. For example say I’m having a really bad mental attack from the enemy. I will then begin to see status updates with similar remarks as to what I am thinking. Then there are the few that are on the opposite side of this circle and they encourage those who are struggling.

Many of the posts I saw today write very similar things. Such as “I don’t even know why I feel like this”. What if…. what if they feel like this simply because they are on the side of the coin waiting for another to come and shine their light and lift another up?

Far fetched I know….but it’s a thought to ponder. One to possibly open your mind up to the next time you encounter someone having a day when everything seems to go wrong. Maybe it’s your turn to be the one to lift them up.

The thought that keeps coming to mind is the figure 8. I don’t have any fancy pictures to upload but the figure 8 is also the symbol for infinity. It’s a never ending circle that meets at the Cross. Imagine if you will one side being Light the other being dark….they both meet at the Cross. The question I want to leave with you is….what side are you on today…and what are you doing with it?

Healing in hindsight

Gifted for Leadership: Be Still, Ailing Minister, Part 2

http://www.giftedforleadership.com/2013/05/be_still_ailing_minister_part_1.html

“About a year ago you were here.” She pointed to the page. “Now you are here, and you need to stay there as long as necessary. There’s no telling how long it will be, but you’ll know when it’s time to emerge. If you try to break free before you’re ready, truly ready, you’ll do more harm than good, and you’ll end up right back where you were at the point of your burnout.”

I could cry reading this one. See God has been working on me for years, even before I ever stepped foot into church. But when I finally did and allowed Him access to ALL of me, He began revealing areas that needed healing. And I knew these would. But then He touched areas that I had either never even knew existed or thought were conquered. Then to really shake things up He made sure when Matt died I had no one but Him to lean on. This was the hardest, yet most important part of my life thus far. Here’s the thing though, He kept me isolated and I knew in my heart, soul, and mind that I needed to be. Too many open wounds and emotional scars exposed to properly function. But this is frowned upon like the first article points out. So I went to church and tried to socialize on good days. Tried to volunteer bc my heart desperately wanted to please God and give back. BUT this caused me to put on a temporary bandage in order to make it through, only to have to yanked off and my husband or children suffer the wrath of all that was exposed.

As I read this, I could get bitter and keep score of how I had poor guidance. But what’s done is done. And they couldn’t have known the depths that God was going within my heart and mind. No, I will do what the Lord has ALWAYS done in my life. I will store this moment within my mind and emotions and ask Him to make sure I remember all of it, so I can be empathetic to the one He brings along my path in the future.

Friends, we are called to be the LIGHT of Christ in the world. Someone needs to walk in the darkness and keep stepping forward towards the glimmer of LIGHT we see up ahead. When we do this, and are transparent we leave a trail that Shines brighter than we imagine.

Jesus Loves You…

“Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.” Luke 11:17

These words were spoken by Jesus and today I am seeing more and more how true this statement is. The enemy is attacking marriages, and wreaking havoc in our homes and hearts. Ladies, I wish I had an easy rememdy or a reason why this was occurring. Sadly, I don’t and what’s even more sad is I’m afraid as the years go on it is only going to get worse.

I know these are not words that give hope. Or are they? Gods word tells us over and over again that we have an enemy and he wants to destroy all things that bring honor to our Lord Jesus. How can we arm ourselves against this?

We seek FIRST His Kingdom. It’s that simple. We need to build our lives on the foundation of Jesus Christ. We need to KNOW Him who gave his life up for us to gain Freedom through His Blood. We need to KNOW who He says we are IN Him. We NEED to BELIEVE HIM. And we Need to set up camp and remain there no matter what comes our way. No matter who betrays us…..because people WILL betray us. Judas betrayed Jesus, Peter betrayed Jesus, what makes us think we can count on anyone here not to fall victim to the enemies trap? Jesus is our refuge Ladies. Jesus is the One who became a man, lived under the law, sacrificed His life for US, was risen to redeem us from death. Jesus is the One who LOVES US. Jesus DIED for US. He is our Husband, we are His BrideGroom. He is Our EVERYTHING, and He WILL NOT BETRAY US.

Seek Him if you’re hurting. Seek Him if you’re not. Seek Him if you’re Lost. Seek Him if you’re not. Always Seek to Know Jesus and allow His Love envelop you. He’s right there with you. He has not taken His eyes off of you. He lives INSIDE of YOU. The Christ is One with you and wants you to KNOW HIM. Cry to Him. Let His words cover the lies that are wreaking havoc in your mind. Let His Love hold you when it seems the world around you is falling apart. Do NOT give up, or give in to the LIES that you are alone. NEVER WILL HE FORSAKE YOU! God is NOT a liar and never ever will He leave you. EVER! He sent this letter to you because He needs you to know that He hears you! And He’s sorry, but promises that if you remain faithful to Him, He WILL work it all out for GOOD. He’s not finished yet. Don’t give up. Hold on to Your anchor….Jesus is with You!

Brokenhearted for Mothers today

I always know when it’s been too long since I last written when my nails have grown so long. 🙂 There just hasn’t been anything to write about….until last night. I attended Real Women through my church Real Life Christian Church, in Clermont FL. After large group we broke up to randomly selected small groups. (Although 4 of the 7 ladies all work as teachers and know one another).

Each of us went around and told our names as well as adding something about us. This is where the subject of this blog came to mind. One of the ladies is pregnant with her third daughter. Right away I could sense a tad of anxiety in saying “three girls”. Maybe you even cringed a little while reading that. One woman replied, “Oh wow”. Not being a mother herself we could understand the response. Then our group leader, being a mother of 4 grown boys tried to give her encouragement, I’m assuming she could also feel the anxiety in her words, “three girls”. “It’s easier when you have all the same” and then the mom to be replied with a commonly stated phrase, “I’m just worried about the teen years with 3 girls”.

How many times have you heard or said this? Personally I strongly dislike hearing this. We already defeat ourselves of Gods promise to provide all that we need. Mind you many of us, myself included think of this as a financial provision. But where in Gods Word does He ever say I will provide you with money? No, He tells us that He knows what we need, and will provide this for us. He knows we need the strength and wisdom to be mothers in todays’ day. BUT…the enemy wants us to ‘doubt’ this. Just like he wanted Eve to doubt God in the garden, just like he tried to get Jesus to doubt whose He was in the wilderness.

Ladies, if we are women of God and the Holy Spirit is living within us then we MUST stop letting the WORLD define what kind of “teen” years we will have with our children. We MUST STOP defeating ourselves before we even get our kids out of diapers. He who lives IN us (Holy Spirit), is GREATER than he who lives in the world. Do you believe this?

I instantly told this woman that it doesn’t have to be this way. That she can choose to be different, she can choose to let God be in control of this relationship and not the world. Do you know what she said? And I quote: “Thank you! That is the FIRST time anyone has ever said that to me. I really needed to hear that.”

Then within seconds our group leader, replied. “Well, we also have to make sure we are not too naive and just take one day at a time. I raised 4 boys and my advice is take one day at a time” There’s that well meaning, plan B. My heart broke, again!

Did you catch what I just wrote? My heart broke, again! First, do you remember how many girls she will be the mother of? That’s right, THREE. And this was the FIRST time this active Christian woman has heard that the teenage years did NOT have to be directed by the world. WHY? How can this woman have gone through the last 5 years and not one single person encouraged her as a mother? How can she worship God and walk along side other women and not ONE single person tell her that God is the one who directs our lives not the world?

Mothers I challenge you today to think about the last time you encouraged another mother in parenting. I ask you to consider your words carefully when another mother is having a hard time. Do NOT add to her burden….we are to point others to CHRIST at ALL times. Yes, we will fall short at times….BUT that is NOT an excuse to continue in fallin short. I am praying that those who are reading this repent of the negative chatter that we have about the future of our children. The WORLD DOES NOT DIRECT YOUR PATHS. If we TRUST IN THE LORD IN ALL OUR WAYS, HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATHS STRAIGHT. God is NOT a liar. You can bank on His Word as TRUTH!

The second way my heart broke was with the well meaning, plan B. God did not create a Plan B. Jesus was NOT plan B. GOD KNEW! JESUS KNEW! THE HOLY SPIRIT KNEW! Yet together they STILL created the Heavens and the Earth, and US! Yes, we will fall short in this life, BUT that does not mean we don’t strive for perfection every single day at every single thing. Jesus did it. So can we.

Do you believe that? The SAME Spirit that lived inside Jesus as He walked this earth ALSO lives in US! It’s through this power that we can live in victory! The truth that we will be complete the day Jesus comes back, is not for us to procrastinate on perfection. It’s a promise; I consider for us to not give up when we do fall.

Mothers, I again want to challenge you to speak life into your friends. Speak Truth into the women who have children younger than yours. If you are going through teenage years and they are hard…then accept your role in that and go to God and pray for Him to reveal to YOU what YOU can do to change YOUR behavior to HELP your children. God gives wisdom to those who ask according to His will. That means when praying, make sure your heart is asking for the right reasons. Not just because you’re tired of the hard years, but because these are His children also that He entrusted YOU to raise up in His Word. To teach them how to live in this world, which is getting worse by the minute, in a way that glorfies HIM! p.s. it helps to live in way that honors Him yourself FIRST.
