Words Matter

My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them And health to all their body. Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth And put devious speech far from you.

Proverbs 4:20‭-‬24 NASB

If His Words give life, what do you think happens when we have a deceitful mouth and devious speech?

We must guard what we say, sing, and think. What we hear and allow to take root in our hearts and minds MATTER.

Sharing is caring

Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;  but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Luke 22:31‭-‬32 NASB

I was given this text days ago and wasn’t sure the message He wanted me to share behind it until just now.

Last night I felt led to share some of the trials that my husband and I are currently (see here) in. As I was writing I knew this would bless others as well as honor God with what He’s doing in our lives.

God is good. Always. He is working ALL things for GOOD, for those who love Him and are called for His purpose (paraphrase Romans 8:28).

My marriage has absolutely been through a season of sifting and after reading about how they sifted wheat in the old days I couldn’t be more positive that this passage is genuinely what we’ve been going through. And if I am to be His Light and Shine His love to others lost in the darkness then I’ve got to get real when I’m knee deep in the muck and mire.

Not in anger or pain but in gratitude that no matter what this flesh tries to bind me to my eyes and heart are always going to refocus and get back on my God. And because of that I TRUST in HIM and HIS promises. So I share. I share so others lost in the muck see that they too can find their hope in Christ, even though it seems they may have failed Him.

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16 NASB

If you are currently in the muck know that I have prayed for you to focus your eyes back on your Father. Focus your heart back on Him who Loves you.

God is Good. Always. Trust Him. You have not been forsaken.

What shall we Do?

What will we do in times like this?

Are you seated in Christ?

Have you been born again?

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:1‭-‬2 NASB

Our instructions are clear.

My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; For length of days and years of life And peace they will add to you. Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.

Proverbs 3:1‭-‬8 NASB

Lastly, hold firm to the Truth.

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 NASB

Her sins are many…

It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.

1 Timothy 1:15 NASB

Have you ever looked at an old picture of yourself and thought “WOW, if only people knew just how lost I was behind that smile?”

This is my current Facebook profile picture. It came up on my ‘memories’ and I thought how appropriate for the frame they have saying “Saved by His Amazing Grace” so I posted it.

I can’t stop looking at it with such gratitude. Knowing that in that moment I was an alcoholic stripper, having an emotional online affair with a married man, and had no idea who Jesus was.

For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

Luke 7:47 NASB

Today, 12 years later I sing His praises and rejoice at the life He redeemed me from.

He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord .

Psalms 40:2‭-‬3 NASB

I don’t hide my past from others. I hope to never forget how far I’ve fallen. I desire to stay empathetic to those who are broken and lost in darkness. To show them that He is a Good God and desires that we ALL be saved through the blood of Jesus Christ.

I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, And I will not remember your sins.

Isaiah 43:25 NASB

Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. You will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God. Moreover, I will save you from all your uncleanness; and I will call for the grain and multiply it, and I will not bring a famine on you.

Ezekiel 36:26‭-‬29 NASB

Then He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven.”  And He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Luke 7:48‭, ‬50 NASB

Sweet Words

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O Lord ; save me, O my God! For You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.

Psalms 3:6‭-‬7 NASB

Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6 NASB

I believe.

Noble minded

Wishful Thinking by MercyMe. https://shz.am/t109838504

Have you ever been taught something that went against what you once believed?

The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men.

Acts 17:10‭-‬12 NASB

Oh how I long for us to be considered noble-minded. I remember several years ago I had learned something new. Something that challenged everything that I thought was true. Something that honestly kept me somewhat sane during what seemed like an endless amount of pain and suffering.
When I was told this truth I immediately wanted to reject it. But everything I had known to be true was shown to me through the scriptures as was this new teaching. So I didn’t reject it, as my flesh desired me to. I went home and eagerly searched the texts and began to see what was spoken was indeed truth.

As I believed I could literally feel layer upon layer of lies being washed away. I was being washed by the Word. Ever since that day I have lost my double mindedness and my helmet of salvation has been secure. My mind is guarded and kept in perfect peace just as Jesus promises it will be in Philippians 4:7.
One day I hope to be led to share this truth but it must be God who leads me and not myself.
The point of this sharing is I could’ve rejected what was being shown to me. What went against ‘common teachings’. But I like the Beareans eagerly searched the scriptures to test what was said to see if it was TRUE.
When I listen to the song listed my heart rejoices because of this exact verse.

Never again will ever be bound to my flesh. All because I chose to believe what was written verses what many have taught.

Remember who you are….

Seek Him First

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33 NASB

If you’ve ever been pulled towards the world and then back to our Father you know how vital this passage is. It’s no coincidence that it’s placed after instructions about not worrying or serving two masters.

Seeking God’s kingdom, which is within, is so vital to being able to ‘Do greater things’ as Jesus said we would.

Seeking God’s Kingdom and righteousness FIRST doesn’t just mean first in the morning, although starting your day in His Presence is a sure way to face each day empowered and guarded within your mind. Seeking God’s Kingdom FIRST means before anything.

Important decisions for instance, even when we know where He’s guiding us, like we see Nehemiah do before he answers the King as to why his face is so lowly. (Nehemiah 2:3,4)

We ought to Seek God First, why? Because like every other instruction that’s given to us there is a reward waiting for us in our obedience.

“…and all these things will be added to you.”

This morning when I read this immediately my heart jumped to

And blessed us she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.” Luke 1:45NASB

Then my eyes moved over to the highlight in my Bible “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37NASB

How beautiful is this?

I don’t know what the ‘all these things’ will be but I know that it’ll be GOOD, because all good gifts come from above. And when I seek His Kingdom and Righteousness FIRST my heart is filled with contentment in whatever He chooses for me.

Whatever path He guides me to. I know that I don’t have to worry about it. Because God is Good and He loves me. And you.

Friends, Seek God’s Kingdom and His Righteousness FIRST. Trust that He has nothing but goodness for you. He loves you and desires for you to be One with Him.

Remember who you are….

Are you denying Jesus?

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:1 NASB

Recently, I’ve been thinking about how we use God’s written word. On others and ourselves.

First let’s talk about how we use it towards others.

You can always sense the context in which someone speaks it or posts it on Social Media.

You can feel the indignantion within what is written. Most likely from a previous hurt or offence. Although the scripture justifies what they’re feeling, you have to wonder if God wasn’t trying to show them the thorn in their flesh that they’re holding onto, hoping to free them from this. But instead they use it as a weapon to hurt the other person.

And although the word is a weapon (Ephesian 6:17), it’s not to be used against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).

God says to remove the LOG  (plank) from our own eye before we attempt to remove the SPECK from another. The difference in description of these two items is enormous and purposeful, it’s how He speaks to gently say “HEY YOU’VE GOT BIGGER PROBLEMS THAN THEM”.

Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?  Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Matthew 7:3‭-‬5 NASB

Consider this the next time someone hurts or wrongs you and you make a vague post with scripture in hopes they see it.

As far as how you use it on yourself…..

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.  But there are some of you who do not believe.”

John 6:63,64a
Our FLESH profits nothing from the Spirit and the Spirit gives life. Jesus says here that the words He has spoken are SPIRIT and LIFE.

Your flesh hates His written words….hence the guilt. The fear almost of coming to the scriptures when you have walked in your flesh. Fearful of what you will read.

Friends, God’s Words give LIFE to our SPIRITS. They’re never meant to CONDEMN who you are, Spirit.

When you condemn yourself because of what your flesh has done you’re agreeing that you are your flesh. You are taking that sin on as your own. You are agreeing with Satan that you ARE a sinner. You deserve condemnation, punishment, and pain.

You are denying what Jesus HAS done FOR you at the CROSS.

When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

Colossians 2:13‭-‬15 NASB

Denying your FREEDOM, FORGIVENESS, NEWNESS in Christ.

You get caught in a cycle of lies that you’re unworthy, unholy, filthy. Your mind is set on the flesh. And the mind set on the flesh is hostile towards God, therefore you cannot believe HIM.

For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,  and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
Romans 8:6‭-‬9 NASB

You MUST get the LOG (or PLANK) out of your eye because it’s blinding you from the TRUTH that your flesh HAS already been CRUCIFIED with Christ and there is NO condemnation for YOU.

This is why is so vital that we handle the Word of Truth so diligently because we can miss the Truth that we are indeed walking by the FLESH and not the SPIRIT.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 NASB
The next time your mind slips to your flesh let us thank our Father that He has FREED you from your FLESH. Let’s thank Him that you are NO longer identified as your FLESH and thank Him for nailing it to the cross, taking it out of the way so you can freely WALK in the newness of Christ’s Spirit. Thank Him for going before you and lighting your path with His Word.

Be cautious not to get caught up in apologizing for this sin. By doing this you are agreeing that you are indeed guilty, and Jesus didn’t take ALL of the sins of the WORLD at the cross.

Remember who you are…

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Romans 8:14 NASB

A perfect person is One with Christ

A perfect person is One with Christ.

John 17:22-23 NASB

The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one;  I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

Remember the flesh profits nothing. We don’t appraise the things of the flesh but that of the Spirit and bc of that those born again are perfect.

1 John 4:15-17 NASB

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.

Because as He is, so also are we in this world.

We as born again children have to be careful what we claim as US, we are not our flesh.

Romans 8:9-10 NASB

However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.

John 3:6 NASB

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Why does this matter?

Matthew 12:37 NASB

For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

John 9:31 NASB

We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.

Stop claiming to be sinners. If you have been baptized in water and Spirit your old self HAS died.

Romans 6:3-7 NASB

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.

Many are afraid to accept this and use these texts to keep ahold of their sinful nature.

1 John 1:8, 10 NASB

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Forgetting that 1 John continues, and refuses to see these following text that was in the middle of these two texts.

1 John 1:9 NASB

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Remember we have to repent of our old thinking we have to admit as carnal (flesh) we were sinners. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, which is death, sin. Many refused to believe Jesus when He told them they needed to be freed from sin.

John 8:31-33 NASB

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;  and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”  They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”

What I want you to see is Jesus spoke this to the Jews “who HAD believed Him. Just like today many believe Jesus but refuse to continue in HIS Words of freedom. They WANT to stay in their sin.

When Jesus returns He is not going to then clean you from your sins, He already did that at the cross.

Hebrews 9:28 NASB

so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

Know who you truly are!

Matthew 5:48 NASB

Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
