Today I’m going to talk about things that aren’t 🍑.
But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.”
What does this mean to you? I mean really read it. “Allow the dead to bury their own“. Is Jesus talking about actual dead people burying other dead people? Of course not because that not possible. He’s speaking about spiritually dead people burying their own.
So then let’s consider this for a moment.
A wife is bound as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.
(Hmm but there’s no way he could be talking about spiritually because that’s never the case, right?)
But in my opinion she is happier if she remains as she is; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 7:39-40
I just threw that last part in there because well I agree with his opinion as well.
This next part is where you’ll probably disagree with me, if you haven’t already and that’s OK. I’m still going to share this because I know there are women (&men) out there bound to dead husband’s (&wives) and fear leaving them due to the backlash of their “church” community. The condemnation they will receive. Guess they haven’t read Romans 8:1.
If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.
When you are married to a spiritually dead spouse they do not posses the Spirit of Christ and are continually used by Satan to get you to sin, you need to consider this passage.
Now I’m not one who picks and chooses and I don’t think it’s coincidence that the very next passage is about “divorce”.
“It was said, ‘Whoever sends his wife away, let him give her a certificate of divorce; but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Matthew 5:30-32 NASB
not chaste; not virtuous; not pure:
characterized by sexual suggestiveness, transgression, or excess; lascivious; bawdy:
Now these are physical terms. A human can’t spiritually be unchaste can they?
Well let’s talk through this. When we become united with our spouse the two become ONE and this is through marriage. When we become ONE with Christ this is through marriage with Him, yes? So then if our spouse has become ONE with the Spirit of Satan, then why wouldn’t this mean the same thing? Our human/carnal mind keeps us from seeing Jesus’s words as Spirit. But we have to be careful because Jesus is the one who said: But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:23-24 NASB
Like I stated earlier I’m writing this because I know many are struggling to listen to what they know they are being led to do because of everything man has taught on how God views divorce. And it’s good that they are considering how God views it because we should NEVER take divorce lightly, but we need to see how HE considers it and not how man has taught it.
There will always be physical consequences when a man and woman divorce but it is not an unforgivable sin. Sometimes we need to make sure we wrestle through the Scriptures asking God to give us wisdom, asking Him to silence all flesh so we can hear His voice. He is a God of LOVE and will guide you to the answer that He is speaking to you daily.
To anyone this speaks to I leave you with this.
“Fear not, for you will not be put to shame; And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced; But you will forget the shame of your youth, And the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. “For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the Lord of hosts; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth. “For the Lord has called you, Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, Even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,” Says your God.
Isaiah 54:4-6 NASB
